America Please Wake up.
I’m going to start by saying that naivety should take caution prior to reading this post. It involves realism, and possibly even pessimism in your eyes. Has anyone noticed how obsolete politics has become? People with sheets of paper claiming they have expertise in an unknown realm of governance, claiming they know what the people want. Politicians bring these giant essays of work, written in neoclassical terms, that not even they understand, never mind the layman. They expect people to know what they’re voting for but the only thing they know is from word of mouth. “Healthcare bill”: I don’t even know what it’s on, but it sounds bad dammit. That’s a ridiculous system.
People should be clearly and concisely informed on what they are voting on. But besides that, the object of voting has even become obsolete. We’re living in a mock democracy… We think we have the ability to vote… We think we have a strong input on the decisions being made to scale. We do not. Politicians play ball with people who can afford it. Big corporations: BP, Exxon/Mobile, Goldman Sachs… All names that come up a lot. What gives their name such a privilege to be in my mind from the moment I turn on a TV? Money.
They run our government systems directly. Yes I say directly and mean it. Obama ran on the platform to bring about “Change”. What exactly has changed? There’s more pointing fingers and monkey business in congressional discussions. That’s a big change. We’re still at war, no troops are home; and believe me they do not want to be there. Think about the leaders that are in our government, and I do not mean the president. The Bush family is one name that comes to mind. This is not me ranting about how bad they are - unnecessary. I am simply pointing out that these people are first and second cousins to the English royal family. They own huge oil corporations, and are among the richest people in the world. They live more comfortably than anyone in America. They could care less about some small lives used up in a battle of modern imperialism.
I’m just saying to look a little deeper and make sure you fight for your rights. We’re governed by the ultra rich and yet we claim to be a capitalistic, free enterprise system. We have royalty, you just do not call them that. They’re called: actors, senators, congressman, Donald Trump. We have a say in our future, and I think it’s time we start fighting for it. We need to start having people unafraid of speaking their minds once more. The inequality between rich and poor is thicker than ever; any economist would confirm this. So don’t fall into the trap of calling me a pessimist and open your eyes to the hypocrisy of our country. We need to take it back and practice our freedoms.
